2009 / Volume / London - Glasgow

Established in 2009 by Caroline Stevenson, Patricia Fleming and Simon Mitchell, Volume emerged as a new gallery space in the old Police Station in Deptford, London. Working together as an independent collective of curators, Volume provides opportunities for artists, designers, musicians and writers to research and develop their practice in London and Glasgow. Volume supports emerging and established practitioners and prioritises dialogue and critical debate as an ongoing cycle.

Through the residency programme, Volume provided access directly to the practitioner in the studio, facilitating engagement with their peers and the public. The events programme brought people together to meet, socialise and experience contemporary art and culture in an informal setting.
